Discover VMware NSX-V Networks

NetworkBrain can discover the following components of an NSX-V network via restful APIs and then build network topology based on the retrieved data.

• NSX Managers
• NSX Controllers
• Logical Switches
• Distributed Logical Routers
• NSX Edges

Prerequisites: A user account with the Auditor role is required to enable NetworkBrain to discover an NSX-V network.
 

Note: This configuration for the NSX-V user role is required on the vCenter to which the NSX Manager is registered.

The main flow of discovering VMware NSX-V networks are as follows:

1. Set Up API Server in NetworkBrain — define the required parameters to access 3^rd-party systems via APIs.
2. Discover NSX-V Network in NetworkBrain — discover the components of an NSX-V network via restful APIs, and then build network topology based on the retrieved data.
3. Auto-Update NSX-V Data in NetworkBrain through Benchmark — execute a benchmark task to retrieve all data and build all components, including visual spaces and data views.
