Define Intent Replication Settings for NITs With Macro Variables

Intents can be replicated from the intent template for troubleshooting and triggered by TAF. In the process of installing the intent template to TAF, in some cases, some macro variables of the intent template need to be set to a certain specific value, e.g., the target subnet for show ip route <subnet> command. To support TAF in these cases, we allow to input values for macro variables of the intent template during the TAF installation. Data fields of incoming incident type can be used as the data source to set the value for macro variables.

  • Name: The name field will be populated with the selected intent template name (e.g., Intent Check MTU and Duplex Matching).
  • Replication Settings: Define replication mode for replicating intents from the intent template.
  • Replicate Current Intent on: Select data fields (e.g., IssueDevice_Name) of the selected incident to define what devices will be used as incident devices, in other words, the problem devices. The incident device will be extrapolated from the data field(s) of the selected incident type.
  • Set Macro Variables of Seed Intent Template: Select data fields of the selected incident, then use the values in the data fields as the macro variable values for the seed device.
Information Note: Enable Use pre-decode values if the device variable is null, then if the value of macro variable is null, the pre-decode values will be used as the macro variable values.
  • Maximum number of command sections included in the cloned intent: Input a number (the default value is 99), which is the maximum number of command sections in the cloned intent. This is for limiting the command sections in the cloned intent.
