NetBrain License Overview
The system provides both trial and subscription licenses. For subscription license, the License Model is divided into three sub-modules: Foundation Module, Network Module, and Function Module.
As depicted in the above diagram, the Foundation Module applies to the traditional network devices, while the Network Module can be further divided by various emerging network technologies.
|
Network Module
|
License Unit
|
Description
|
| Foundation | Node | Traditional Network Device (other than the emerging network technologies listed below) |
| WAP | Node | All WAP and LWAP (including Aruba and Meraki) |
| Cisco ACI | ACI Port | When the License mode is Universal, default Cisco ACI port ratio = 0.25, that is 1:4 |
| NSX-T |
The number of ESXi Host CPU sockets which enable NSX-T feature.
|
Universal Mode: Each NSX-T CPU requires 4 node licenses. vCenter licensing is automatically covered for ESXi host CPU sockets with NSX-T enabled.
Example:
When you add 2 NSX-T CPU licenses, they will also automatically cover 2 vCenter CPU licenses.
|
| ESXi | CPU | The number of physical CPUs of the ESXi host |
| AWS (Amazon Web Services) | VPC Equiv (VPC) |
The number of VPCs managed by the account.
License ratio: 1 VPC = 16 Universal Nodes. |
| Microsoft Azure |
VNet Equiv (VNet and VHub)
|
The number of VNets and VHubs managed by the subscription. License ratio: 1 VNet = 16 Universal Nodes
1 VHub = 80 Universal Nodes.
|
| Google Cloud Platform (GCP) | VPC Equiv (VPC) |
The number of VPCs managed by the Project. License Ratio: 1 VPC = 16 Universal Nodes. |
|
Kubernetes
|
Kubernetes Resources Equiv (Node, Service, Ingress)
|
The number of Nodes, Services, and Ingress resources managed by the cluster.
Node to Universal Node = 1:1 Service to Universal Node = 1:1 Ingress to Universal Node = 1:1
|
The system provides two modes of license:
- Separate Pool License Mode: In this mode, each network module has its own node and cannot be transferred.
-
Universal Pool License Mode: In this model, all network modules can be transferred to the Universal Nodes based on a defined ratio.
Customers need to purchase different types of network modules and function modules under different modes.
-
In the Universal Pool mode:
- All network Modules (ACI, NSX, AWS, Azure, etc.) are automatically enabled, and their detailed settings are locked for editing.
-
In the Separate Pool mode:
- Customers can choose which Network Module to purchase.
Main User Flow
The main user flow of the license consists of the following steps:
